Cats Rule Social Media on National Cat Day (…and every day)

Happy National Cat Day! To help you celebrate, we’ve pulled together a dynamic stream of social content honoring our feline friends on their special day.

Overwhelmed by cuteness yet?

There are approximately 600 million cats worldwide, from house pets, strays, and homeless cats to feral felines. The Washington Post reported that 51% of Millennials keep cats as pets, choosing pets over kids. Of the house cats, many of them have a presence on social media: According to a recent survey sponsored by Mars Petcare US, 65% of pet owners post about their pets on social media an average of twice a week.  This results in massive amounts of social content that keeps us endlessly entertained and delivers one “awww” moment after another across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and countless other social networks.

If you’re not a cat owner, but looking to leap into the social media fray with a feline of your own, consider adopting: 3.4 million cats enter US shelters each year and only 42% will be adopted or returned to their owners.

As for me, I’ll be spending National Cat Day with these two troublemakers…

P.S. As if being the darlings of the internet wasn’t enough, our furry feline friends get three dedicated days each year – National Cat Day on October 29th, International Cat Day on Aug. 8, and World Cat Day on Feb. 17. You can “catify” your own site on these days with a Crowdynews curated social stream.  Contact us to learn how.
