UGC WINS THE CONFEDERATIONS CUP

Every great show needs a lot of preparation, including a trial run. It’s like rehearsing a play before it makes it to London’s West End or New York’s Broadway.

A year before the FIFA World Cup, Russia (the host country) will test the infrastructure, stadiums, and best strategies when they host The Confederations Cup playoffs. The final match is scheduled for Sunday, 2-July. Eight teams are currently competing for the FIFA Confederations Cup including Chile (South America), Mexico (Central and North America), Cameroon (Africa), New Zealand (Oceania), Australia (Asia), Portugal (Europe), Germany (World Champions) and Russia (host country).

FAVORITE TO WIN

Football’s best player from last season and the favorite to win this year, Cristiano Ronaldo (AKA CR7), is eager to conquer everything soccer with Portugal’s national football team and current UEFA European Champions. This is Cristiano’s first Confederations Cup.

STRATEGY TO WIN

While CR7, Portugal, and the other national teams are powering their way to the finals, Germany is showcasing their younger players. While the seasoned players are getting a much needed break, lesser known players have the opportunity to play in higher level competition. As the current world champion, even Germany’s B team is feared by their rivals.

PREPARING TO WIN

The inviting weather in Russia is perfect for both the game as well as the fans who follow their idols wherever they go. Even Barcelona’s goalkeeper, Marc Ter Stegen, shares the view from his hotel room with his fans via social media. As most people are already aware, Mexicans are considered the most die-hard football fans in the world. En masse, they have invaded Kazan as it debuts The Confederations Cup. Those not lucky enough to be close to their team during the play-offs will have to deal with the 8-hour time difference.
