NAB Show NY Didn’t Disappoint

Big week. National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show New York began on the heels of the US Presidential election. Not surprising that the NAB Show show floor was a little quiet Wednesday morning as broadcasters were still covering the election results. As the day progressed, we became very busy meeting with broadcasters – and a handful of publishers – interested in learning how they can leverage social media to engage their digital site visitors.

As the largest NAB Show NY yet (over 15,000 registrants), there was a lot happening – on display were both new technology as well as a number of A-list speakers. Show attendees included people looking for hardware (e.g., cameras and sound equipment) and those wanting to learn about the latest industry developments.

Similar to NAB in Las Vegas that we attended last April as a Sprockit Startup, broadcasters were:

  • Very interested to learn how social media can be used to increase digital visitors’ time on site, and
  • Intrigued by the many customer examples we were able to show them.

Larger broadcasters confirmed that they already have social media curation tools in-house. However even using these tools, a large portion of the content is still curated by hand – reviewing each post one-at-a-time.

They were excited to learn the Crowdynews platform operated more along the line of a “set it and forgot it” model, minimizing the time editors spend sifting through social media posts determining which are appropriate content. Due to the large number of filters the Crowdynews platform provides, little-to-no hand curation is required to deliver a real-time, safe, and relevant social media stream.

Because there was a plethora of post-election news, we showcased several of our US-based customers who created custom 2016 election social streams. The social streams were very well received.
